I think you're missing one of the points they briefly mention about not being able to go faster. It was actually down to the fact that if he went much faster, the force on the metal loop structure would have been too much in this particular case. Sure if they had built a stronger loop, then you could go faster, if you could withstand the increased g force.
Adding it back to *lies I'm afraid. Just do a google for "Wall-E in Toy Story", plenty of discussion with people claiming it's fake having checked those scenes on their own DVD's for the movies (as GDGD did with his Incredibles DVD).
Yeah it's been happening to me fairly regularly over the last 2-3 days. You usually know it's about to happen as when you click a link, it proceeds to take a while before displaying the error.
