I give it another 10 years before this technology is put into something like a walking RealDoll™ - then prostitution 2.0 begins. Though it won't be considered prostitution until the A.I. rights accord of 2036.
^ Yes, but the joke never gets old when fundamentalists continue to claim that the bible is the literal word of God handed down for us all to follow strictly.
Stuff like this is just the opposite reaction to that action.
^True that, but for things like laptops I would think that would be less an issue, if they were for inside cabin use. Definitely though for external cameras and such. I remember reading that the chips used on mars probes have to be designed to accept lots of faults without crashing because of the large amount of particles that pass through them while in space. I suppose that's probably a factor for electronics inside a cabin as well.
I remember reading a while back that there is quite a lengthy certification process to bring any electronics into space. That's why the laptops onboard the ISS are several generations behind. They need to test for safety factors, energy consumption and suitability for zero-g. Anything with mechanical parts in it, just might not work no gravity. We would probably be surprised how many devices depend on actual weight to function properly.
In Australia, Liberals = Republican (weird I know) and Labor = Democrats. Though I would say that Australia's Liberals are somewhat to the left of the US's Republicans. We do have some other minor parties that are a bit more to the right. The Nationals, and the "Family First" parties are the most prominent.
^Yeah, unfortunately the only American beers that make it overseas are the big brands like Bud or Miller. (I had a Miller Chelada a few weeks back).
I don't hate America. It definitely is a very different perspective when you're looking in from the outside though. I may even actually come back to live there one day - if the Department of Fatherland Security lets my family in.
As they say, American beer is like sex in a rowboat - they're both fucking close to water.
I enjoy a pint of Guinness or a very cold Carlsberg. (The in-joke at my office, when being offered a Carlsberg is to say - "Carlsberg, perfect" a la Richmond from the IT Crowd.)
